I’m Kali Rose Schmidt and I’m the author of Stranger Rituals, a dark adult fantasy combining blood magic, religion, and holy wars, to create one ridiculously bloody book.

Here are 10 Random Facts About Me that will help you remember I’m a human being and not a mad villain when you’re done reading my book!

1. I have two kids and three step kids! There’s a lot going on at my house.

2. I’m covered in tattoos, including one inspired by a character from Stranger Rituals. (Hint: he has horns)

3. I always, always, always listen to music when I write. Mainly Zeal & Ardor, but sometimes other death metal bands (dark music is great for dark books).

4. I’m originally from North Carolina but currently live in Canada.

5. People always ask if I’m from Australia when I speak. I think this is the combination of my Southern accent and Canadian accent blending together, but it never fails when I meet someone new. I’ve never been to Australia but hope to change that soon.

6. I had a goth phase as a teenager that never really went away. 9 times out of 10, you can find me in black.

7. This is totally random (but that’s the point, right?) but I had two home births with my kids. One was born over my toilet. Yes. I went there.

8. I’m obsessed with all things elves and Fae. There are Fae mentioned in Stranger Rituals, but I’m working on a strictly elven novel right now, so look for that in the future.

9. I have a vampire tattoo of a little boy that I got before my first child, and when I’m out in public with my son, many people think it’s him (kind of spooky).

10. I listen to classical music when I read because I can’t listen to music with words while reading.
