Blog Tour & Giveaway: Midnight's End (The Fae Games #5) by Jill Ramsower

Midnight’s End
Jill Ramsower
(The Fae Games, #5)
Publication date: July 2nd 2019
Genres: Adult, Fantasy, Romance

Sorceress, enchantress, deceiver, murderer—I’ve been called all those and more, some that might make you blush. Lucky for me, I couldn’t care less what people think about me. I’ve had my sights set on one thing for the last thousand years, and that’s all that matters. I’ll do whatever it takes to find the cauldron, even if it means taking on a partner. They call him a knight in shining armor. For me, he’s my golden ticket. He fell into my lap, quite literally, and now he’s going to help me get what I want.

I don’t play particularly well with others, but he’s the best shot I’ve got, so I’ll hop on that train and hope it gets me where I need to go. He thinks he’s going to crack my shell and see what’s on the inside, like maybe there’s a warm gooey center to make up for the hard exterior. He’s in for a world of disappointment. Everything soft and delicate about me became rough and hardened a long time ago. I’m Morgan Le Fay, and I’m the villain in this story.

My Review:

5 Out Of 5 Stars

Genre: Another-World, Faeries, Mystery, Romance, Royal-Court, Supernatural, Suspense--

I feel like Midnight's End was 100% different from any of the previous Fae Games books- and I mean that in the best way. This was an epic adventure story, filled with quests and challenges, scary foe and deadly environment as well as mental challenges and magic. There was non stop action, basically the entire book took place over just a few days with so much crammed in the pages I had to read it in one sitting to see what would happen next. There was also a werewolf paranormal vibe to the story, which just so happens to be one of my favorite genres to read! And while this was the best kind of questing adventure, true to the series, Midnight's End was also very much so a romance with a few stolen steamy moments thrown in- nothing helps show you are still alive like some quality sexy time. When I mention romance, I mean the HEA,completely swoony and wonderful kind of romance, just so you know.

I was a little hesitant when I started this book because I had no idea how I was going to like a story that was about the villain I have come to dislike over the series. Morgan was the epitome of death, destruction and mayhem in the previous books so how was I suppose to cheer her on or connect to her as the main character? Well, very easily, actually. Jill made her into a real character with flaws and a messed up history but she totally owns it. Right from the beginning she was strong and spunky, jaded but willing to forge on and I loved her and her determination. Talk about overcoming the past, I forgave her and wanted her to reach her (incredibly surprising) goal, which was so unexpected from where I was emotionally when I picked up the book.

I liked alone time as much as the next girl, but after a month alone, I was about to start talking to the birds like some kind of fucked up Disney princess. There’s a reason prisoners are punished with solitary confinement. It sucks.

I actually think this is my favorite book in the series (maybe tied with the first book Shadow Play but a whole lot less depressing which instantly bumps it up in my love). I thought the story was interesting and I enjoyed it, but once I was at like 75% (as per my ereader)the plot took a huge shocking twist I never saw coming and I loved every minute! Wow the ending was so good, just what I was wanting without knowing it. Well done Jill, you threw me for a loop and I really hope there will be more books set in the series. I also loved seeing the gang from all the previous books show up- but keep in mind I think Midnight's End could be read as a standalone story since the romance and conflict aspect here was unique to this book.

This was another great Fae story and I am so glad that I discovered this dark, dangerous and romantic fae world.

Author Bio:

Jill is a Texan, born and raised. She manages the hectic social calendars for her three active children and occasionally spends an evening with her dashing husband. Aside from being an author and a mom, she’s an attorney, travel junkie, and voracious reader.

  1. This sounds really unique, dark, and very well written! And I love that it's about the villain, too! I love getting their perspective and motives for the way they are!
