Review: Witch Gone Viral: A New Adult Urban Fantasy (Red Witch Chronicles 3) by Sami Valentine

Book Blurb:

She saved a city, now she's on trial.

Balancing supernatural politics, dating her sexy vampire coworker, and training for the hunter's challenge, Red thought she had figured out life as an intern monster slayer in Los Angeles.

Until she receives a tribunal summons from the Blood Alliance.

The crime was breaking the Dark Veil, the punishment was death.

Red learns that no good deed goes unpunished in the underworld... if she can survive the lesson.

Witch Gone Viral is the third book of the Red Witch Chronicles, a gritty urban fantasy series containing magic, paranormal adventure, and vampire mayhem along with swearing, violence, and adult situations. Perfect for fans of Kim Harrison, Patricia Briggs, Jasmine Walt, and Ilona Andrews.

My Review:

5 Out Of 5 Stars

Genre: Heart-Wrenching, Supernatural, Suspense, Urban Fantasy, Vampires, Witches--

I am pleasantly surprised by how each book in this series is something entirely different, while still maintaining the backbone of Red trying to uncover her identity and getting into some tough situations. Each book has it's own mystery to solve/battle and a unique method of magic/world-building and it always keeps me on my toes. Book 2 was creepy and scary and wonderful, basically all done in a different world in Red's head, and I wasn't sure anything else could compete with that because it was hands down my favorite twist. But somehow, Witch Gone Viral was just as compelling in it's own way, full of vampire politics, heartbreak, crazy vampires and magic as well as some giant truth bombs being dropped that I couldn't anticipate. Just when it seems like things are looking up for Red, something from her unknown past comes to ruin the day (or night, which may be more appropriate).

“Didn’t even have a blood orgy.” Kristoff groaned, shaking his head.

Red buried her head against his chest to hide her rolling eyes. Vampires. Immortal yet still full of clichés. Everything was a Blood this or a Dark that. They couldn’t just have a regular orgy.

I know I have mentioned it before (at least to everyone I have talked to/forced to read the series) that I am team Kristoff. Well, after reading this book, I know I need to shout my love of the wonderful, soulless killing machine Kristoff. He really is just my favorite, so complex and human (and yes he is a non-human vampire, but still) with layers of emotions and motivations. He is supposed to be the "bad guy" but in no scenario do I find him evil or bad- he is a pretty decent guy even without his soul. Sure, he might have claimed Red in the first book without consent, but he has tried his best to redeem himself, is always honest and supports her in all her endeavors. I heart him and I really hope for a love connection for Kristoff and Red (and if she doesn't want him, she can send him my way...).

**Important side note- this is not a romance in any way (and if you expect one you will be very disappointed with the ending!), but an action packed urban fantasy- but my romance loving heart can't help but to ship this relationship regardless of genre!**

I didn't know where Red would go next but the ending of this book perfectly set up the next book and I am so excited for it! Count me in for some more Red shenanigans, cheeky side characters, dangerous encounters and some magic learning.
