Review: A Pack of Blood and Lies (The Boulder Wolves #1) by Olivia Wildenstein
Book Blurb:
The primal rule of winning: don’t fall in love with the contender.
Three months shy of her eighteenth birthday, Ness is forced to return to Colorado. Even though it’s been six years, and the wolves of her all-male pack don’t recognize her, she recognizes them. People who shun others because of their gender are hard to forget.
Especially Liam Kolane—son of Heath, the crudest and cruelest Alpha to have ruled the Boulder Pack. Liam is as handsome as he is infuriating, as kind as he is punishing, and he makes Ness’s traitorous heart race, which isn’t good. After all, he’s a Kolane. Like father like son, right?
When Heath dies, Liam vies to become the new Alpha and no one dares challenge him.
Except Ness.
Thus begins a treacherous game.
The rules: winner takes all…including loser’s life.
Fans of Kresley Cole and Cassandra Clare will devour A PACK OF BLOOD AND LIES.

My Review:
4.5 Out of 5 Stars
Genre: Heart-Wrenching, Mystery, Romance, Supernatural, Suspense, Urban Fantasy, Werewolves--
Ness's whole world was her mom, but now that she passed away from cancer she feels so adrift. When her estranged uncle shows up and insists she moves back to Colorado since he is now her guardian, Ness has no choice but to return to the place that ran her out years ago. See, Ness is a werewolf, the only female in her pack- a pack that never wanted a girl as part of it. Ness is returning to a dangerous situation she has little choice in.
I loved every minute of Oliva's The Lost Clan series so when I discovered she had a new series coming out featuring my very favorite kind of supernatural creature I was so excited. I love anything werewolves so I could not wait to jump into the story. I guess I should not have been surprised at how emotional A Pack Of Blood And Lies was since I had fair warning from Oliva's other books, but wow- right from the start I was emotionally connected to the main character Ness. Her trials (and boy were there a LOT of them) were hard and complicated and that girl needed a hug desperately.
The journey that I took with Ness was so unexpected and awesome- where the story began is no where near where the book ended. I really do not think that I could have predicted anything that happened in the plot because everything was twisty and shocking. But the ending! The ending was so incredibly perfect that I just wanted to Snoopy Dance with joy and hug my copy of the book. But what I learned with Olivia is that happiness may be fleeting so I am a teensy bit concerned.
That is all your are going to get out of me because I do not want to be spoilery even a little bit since this is a book that needs to be experienced. Pick up A Pack of Blood and Lies and be ready for tough emotions, physical battles, betrayal, lies, hard truths, so much heart ache and a wonderful relationship. I have no idea what could be in store for Ness next but you can 100% know that I am counting down the days until I can find out.
