Release Date: July 2017

Monster House Books

In just one week, supernatural warrior Myla Lewis must discover enough evidence to send the evil House of Acca to prison… or she’ll end up in jail herself, along with her fiancĂ©, Prince Lincoln. No pressure.

To gather proof, Myla and Lincoln go undercover at an all-girl’s high school on Earth. Lincoln acts as the new gym teacher; Myla becomes the school’s least popular transfer student ever. To stop them from getting the goods, Acca releases Hell on Earth. Literally. Good thing Myla and Lincoln aren’t afraid of a tough fight. This one promises to be the hardest yet. After all, who ever said high school wasn’t hell?

My Review:

4 Out Of 5 Stars

Genre: Angels, Another-World, Audiobook, Mystery, Romance, Royal-Court, Supernatural, Suspense--

Myla and Lincoln are approaching the deadline for gathering evidence to prove that the house of Acca is corrupt, with only a week left. On top of that, their wedding is the day after the court case. Just when it seems like everything is ready, something terrible happens and they are left scrambling to find the answers. If they can't prove Acca's guilt, they themselves will be found guilty. Their future and the future of the Thrax is on the line.

This is book three in the Angelbound series and they have to be read in order! Please don't start here because you will have no idea what is going on, and you will miss out on all the awesomeness that is Myla. I guess that this book was an add-on form the original series order, but I am glad that it was squeezed in because I enjoy the Myla-Lincoln relationship evolution and the snarky humor that I have come to love from Myla.

I was a little miffed that at times the story had a lot or repetition that I felt was unnecessary and could have been left out. For example, every time Myla mentioned her best friend Sissy, she referenced Sissy as "her best friend Sissy". I know who Sissy is, I didn't need her position explained every time she was mentioned in the story. Also, her father has AMAZING powers and I heard all about it every time he was mentioned. In case you didn't know, he has powers, FYI. It was not a big deal, it was just a little tedious. Keep in mind that I pretty much powered through the first three books so there was a little more repetition than I needed since everything was fresh in my mind, but I did encounter more repeating of things than I care for in this book.

I think this book was a good story, with LOTS of moving parts, I just don't feel like I was 100% engaged while listening like I had been with the first two audiobooks in the series. I feel like at times my attention drifted due to some redundancy in the story and then I would have to rewind the part I missed and I still felt like it may not have been important to the plot anyway. The last 3rd of the story was where most of the action and the super important reveal tidbits lived, so there if you blink (or you know, don't listen for a second) something crucial could have exploded in the story. For me personally, the first 2/3rds were just filler to get to the awesome stuff that I have come to expect from this series.

The narrator aka the author Christina Bauer did a wonderful job yet again bringing the characters to life and giving them their own personalities and voices, I really could not even begin to imagine someone else doing a better job than her. She makes the humor that already exists in the pages come to life, for example Myla's nicknames like Fish-Stick Grandpa, and the random commentary such as unfeminine forest rocks that make all human girls fall down, as per every movie and the demanding wedding gifts of kittens and baby pandas (totally normal, expected wedding gifts). And the acknowledgements are freaking hysterical, as per the norm, and I highly recommend that you listen to her after the story ends.

I have enjoyed all three books that I have read in this series (listened to?), and I highly recommend that you read them in order and listen to the audiobooks.

I received this title in return for my honest review.
