Book Blurb:

A death sentence. A family torn apart. One girl’s hunt for the truth.

Seventeen-year-old Riley Beckett is no stranger to prison. Her father is a convicted serial killer on death row who has always maintained that he was falsely accused. Riley has never missed a single visit with her father. She wholeheartedly believes that he is innocent.

Then, a month before the execution date, Riley’s world is rocked when, in an attempt to help her move on, her father secretly confesses to her that he actually did carry out the murders. He takes it back almost immediately, but she cannot forget what he’s told her. Determined to uncover the truth for her own sake, she discovers something that will forever change everything she’s believed about the family she loves.

------The Row Playlist Guest Post------

Riley likes hard rock, punk, and metal. It’s one of her ways of rebelling. There is definitely that flavor to this playlist. It also reflects the tone of scenes throughout the book and Riley’s path as she tries to uncover the truth for herself and her family. A lot of these songs are new to me, but I really like them. Hope you enjoy!

My Review:

4 Out Of 5 Stars

Genre: Mystery, Teen--

Riley spends every Friday for the last 12 years visiting her father on death row for murders, crimes he is innocent of. But after his last appeal is denied and his time is running out, her father tells Riley something that causes her to doubt everything she knows. Someone has been lying to her, but she is not sure who or what the actual truth is. Riley has 4 weeks to find out the truth, regardless of what it may mean.

I have devoured everything that this author has written and I was excited to get my hands on this new one. I can easily say that I was not even a little bit disappointed by what I received. Just like with all her other books, the characters are what really lure me in. Sure the plot is great and twisty, as well as utterly heartbreaking (that is beside the point), but the people JR creates are what stick with me. In her Night Walker Series I was completely in love with Parker, regardless of his baggage and demons (hmmm…maybe because of it?) and in this story I wanted to befriend Riley and help her with her terrible battle. I get sucked into the emotions that the characters feel. Time flew without me noticing it when I sat down to read, and I blew through this whole book in one sitting because I could not put it down. I wanted to know the truth just as badly as Riley.

I don't want to give anything away so this review won't be much longer, but wow. Seriously, wow. The book went in a direction I had never anticipated and it blew me away. The complexity of the relationships that Riley had with all the side characters was so interesting and at times surprising. I am yet again such a fan of Ms. Johansson and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to read this book and look forward to whatevershe writes next.

If you are looking a serious, suspensful, at times graphic, completely emotional read unlike anything else available then I highly recommend this book.

I received this title in return for my honest review.
