As dragon shifters, Rhodes and Zinnia should never have fallen in love. Why? Zin’s a princess while Rhodes is only the hired help. If the pair remain in the dragon realm, then age-old prejudices might tear them apart. But returning to Earth isn’t any better. In the human world, Rhodes and Zin are a musical sensation … and fame’s an even bigger relationship killer. Bottom line? Rhodes has huge decisions to make, both for himself and Zin.

Unfortunately, it isn’t clear what path—if any—will end with Rhodes and his love having a future together.

My Review:

4 Out Of 5 Stars

Genre: Another-World, Mystery, Romance, Royal-Court, Supernatural, Suspense, Teen--

I would consider Rhodes more of a novella since it was a very quick read (especially for this author since her books are long and epic). It almost felt like this could be the epilogue for book Zinnia since it was basically the continuation of the events that took place in that book. That being said, this is not even a little bit a standalone and has to be read after Zinnia.

I loved that this was multiple points of view, having both Rhodes and Zinnia be narrators for this adventure. I think Rhodes is super sweet and basically wonderful, and Zinnia I find a fascinating mix of innocence and desire. The novella was really fast paced, basically one mission with a pretty explosive ending. The world the author created has some really cool kinds of magic, like mirror portals, all kinds of dragon magic and scary ancient artifacts.

I am super intrigued by Kaps, who is basically the complete opposite of everything that Zinnia is. She is independent, snarky and adventurous, and just a hint jaded and I can't wait to see what terrible mischief she finds herself in during her own book (which is next in the series!). Overall I felt like this was a fun fast read that helped give me closure to the basically fated love that is Rhodes and Zinnia. While there was a lot of action, battles and humor (I feel like this was a much more light-hearted read than Zinnia), the focus of this story was romance (which I am so here for!).

Author Bio:

Christina Bauer thinks that fantasy books are like bacon: they just make life better. All of which is why she writes romance novels that feature demons, dragons, wizards, witches, elves, elementals, and a bunch of random stuff that she brainstorms while riding the Boston T. Oh, and she includes lots of humor and kick-ass chicks, too.

Christina graduated from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School with BA’s in English along with Television, Radio, and Film Production. She lives in Newton, MA with her husband, son, and semi-insane golden retriever, Ruby.
