Blog Tour & Giveaway: The Fianna’s Awakening (Warriors of Myth and Legend, #1) by Ron C. Nieto

Fianna’s Awakening
Ron C. Nieto
(Warriors of Myth and Legend, #1)
Publication date: November 13th 2018
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance, Urban Fantasy

Outcast. Betrayer. Chosen.

After five years being a Fianna, Aisling O’Malley still has to prove herself every day. The sins of the father weigh heavily on her shoulders, and no matter what she does, herfellow warriors regard her as the undeserving one. It doesn’t help that one of the four mythical treasures of Ireland has turned up under her nose, leaving her none the wiser. If by any chance the touted Spear of Lugh up for auction is indeed the legendary Spear of Victory, she needs to get her hands on it before anyone else does—and be spectacular enough about it to make the rest of the Fianna forget she almost missed the artifact in the first place.

Exile. Betrayer. Forgotten.

After spending twice as long undercover as he ever lived at home, Ronan no longer knows where he belongs to or where he’s actually exiled from. He can’t return to his people, not unless he collects the four artifacts of power the Tuatha Dé lost when they were forced to leave Ireland, and three millennia after the fact, he’s pretty sure they’re going to remain lost. Except one of those ancient treasures has landed in his lap—or could land in his lap, if he brings himself to work with the spunky young woman who wants to hire him to consult on the Spear’s authenticity.

Can two broken people learn to trust one another? And even if they can, will it be too late to save Ireland… or themselves?

My Review:

5 Out Of 5 Stars

Genre: Another-World, Faeries, Mystery, Supernatural, Suspense--

I did not know that this book was about the Fey!! I wanted to do a happy dance once I discovered that the Fey had a staring role in my new book- I just realized I might have a problem/obsession considering this is like my 5th book in the last month with Fey characters already this month (and it is only the 15th!). Eh, you can never have too much fairies in your life.

Fianna's Awakening gets 5 Out of 5 Stars alone for the fact that I was completely immersed in the book- I started reading it while on the treadmill and next thing I knew an hour had passed and I was 50% through the pages and I was completely baffled as to how time flew. Ron was able to engage me in the book so much that a workout sped by without out me noticing. And then I had to know what else was going to happen, so I ended up finishing the book that same night. I think it was the approachable writing style that spoke the most to, making chapters breeze by like nothing as well as the non-stop action that kept the pacing just how I like it- crazy and intense.

It didn't hurt that the book was dual narrated by two very layered characters, with secrets, quirks, magic and attitude- and enough building sexual tension that I just wanted to yell at them to kiss already! Aisling was a loner by profession, more of an outcast than she would like, but always at odds with those of her order. I really enjoyed her confidence and swagger, the fact she could walk blindly into a situation and things (usually) worked out- more due to her fighting skills than her big mouth though. Ronan himself is a supernatural, yet really more human out of the two of them. He was nervous, anxious and could not bluff his way through a hostage interrogation. I loved the interaction between the two so very different characters and the way they attempted to escape the situations they kept winding up in. And nicely muscled men's forearms are very appealing, just saying.

I went into the book with no expectations, only a vague idea of the plot and a completely open mind and I am so happy that I got the opportunity to experience this story. I think that this could be considered an urban fantasy, not the paranormal romance that the cover hints at (...but there is just the touch of romance that I need in my stories!) The Fianna's Awakening was a fast paced magical adventure that I highly recommend (I have already raved about it to at least 5 people in real life) and I am now going to seek out all books I can get my grabby hands on by Ron.

I voluntarily reviewed a complementary copy of this title.
