"He was an onion, with layers as yet unexplored. An enigma. And hell, how I loved myself a good mystery."Werewolf Princess Kensington lives far away from her life in the German court, instead in America and working as a high profile PI for missing people. She has a secret that has kept her away from her pack, one only her father knows- she is a werewolf that can't shift. How can she be next inline for the Alpha if she can't access her gift? After being forced by her father into working for an Alpha in a small town, she decides it is the perfect opportunity to kill two birds with one stone- find a missing girl and learn more about her mother's mysterious pack who originated from this area. If only she wasn't saddled with one of the Alpha's Protectors, Drake, as her babysitter. But nothing is ever easy for Kensi. You had me at Werewolf PI...Um, yes please! A book about werewolves (one of my top favorite supernatural things) and add in a mystery and suspense of a missing girl and a female PI? Yep, it was a given I was going to read this book once I discovered it existed. I thought this was such a fast read, easy to get lost in the plot, characters, alpha power struggles, all of it! The writing was smooth and straight forward, making this the perfect read for me. I found myself sucked into this book and the origins of the werewolf was a really cool concept I have never heard before, making this an entirely new read for me. And yes, on top of the mysteries that Kensi is trying to solve, we have some romance and steamy encounters (but not too steamy, just the way I like it!) added for flavor. I really feel like this story had a little bit of everything going on in it, something for all kinds of readers, wrapped in a convenient package that I enjoyed. The ending made me hope it is the start of a series and you can count me in to read more set in this world. There were so many side characters I would like to learn about or even just more from Kensi and the future (like visiting court!!) that I would love if there was more. But that being said, this wrapped everything up nicely with no loose ends that I am really happy with the plot as a standalone too. This was my first book by Carmen but now that I discovered her, I would like to check out all her other worlds.

Review: Moon Promise by Carmen Fox
Book Blurb:
All her life, Kensi has dreamed of being an alpha werewolf. The trouble is, she can’t shift. And she’s tried everything: meditation, mind-expanding drugs, even squeezing real hard. Her plan B? Offering her talents as a private eye to the Wild Pack. If she can locate their missing werewolf, they're bound to support her claim to lead.
Dominant, stubborn and searing hot Drake is assigned to be her guide, and he’s just too damn good at his job. His hard chest bumps into her as he stalks her every move, while his mercury eyes watch her all the time, tearing down her defenses bit by bit. Maybe she got it wrong and being an alpha isn't the only thing she wants.
But when the missing girl turns up dead, Drake’s story unravels. Putting her ambitions on the line, Kensi sets out to prove whether the man she loves is as innocent as she hopes—or as guilty as she fears.
