Nothing can stand in the way of outspoken, rule-breaker-extraordinaire; Kaddy Richston…except destiny. She set her sights on being in a rock band and leaving her small Wyoming town along with the painful memories of her past.
But destiny had other plans for her.
The observant Cole Huntington enters her life and becomes the bump in the road Kaddy is trying to pave for her future. Striking blue eyes, features to make any girl swoon, he’s everything but the new-to-town bad boy. Calm, cool, and always collected, he plans on unraveling every one of Kaddy’s dark secrets.
Kaddy is determined to undermine whatever intentions he has until she learns of a destiny she never asked for. The only person she can turn to for answers is the last person she’d want help from: Cole Huntington, who seemed to dislike her rule-breaking as much as she dislikes his rule-following.

My Review:
4 Out Of 5 Stars
Genre: Angels, Heart-Wrenching, Mystery, Romance, Supernatural, Suspense--
Kaddy has had a hard life, her only positive things is her her best friend Mike and her love of Music. It seems like recently though she can't escape her abusive past and relives it through her night terrors. On top of that, it seems that her sense of smell has enhanced and she is always running hot, feverish. When a stranger shows up in the music store she works in, Kaddy is overwhelmed by his scent as well as by the attraction she feels to him. But there is something else in town looking for Kaddy...
Yay for an entirely different book about supernaturals and Angels! I am always on the prowl for a new plot line and new kinds of supernaturals and usually let down, but Paulina created a hidden world with wings and powers as well as unexpected conflicts that kept me on my toes and engaged. It also doesn't hurt that there was some romance thrown into the mix because I do love myself some romance- buuut, don't expect a happily ever after. This is just the start of Kaddy's new life so more will come and I hope it is happier.
My favorite part of the book was Kaddy's relationship with Mike (and Mike himself- he was like a large, cuddly enthusiastic puppy!). I was a little hesitant that there was going to be a romance developing, or at least romantic feelings most likely on Mike's part, but I am glad to be proven wrong. The two were the best of (completely platonic) friends and I loved them together. They supported, completely "got" each other, would risk anything to help- they were like super close siblings and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I also thought it was sweet that his mom basically adopted her to be family, cause let's face it, the girl needed some love.
Without being spoilery, the ending was heartbreaking and most certainly bittersweet. How can you let go of something you didn't know you needed while at the same time achieving what you always wanted? Yep, Kaddy is on the path to something so much bigger than herself here and book 2 will be something to look forward to, fate is not something you can ignore forever- either is love.
I am voluntarily reviewing a complimentary copy of this book
Author Bio:
After receiving her BA in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing, she now writes full time with, of course, her cats to keep her company. She is the author of the Flightless Bird series, the award nominated Fighting Fate series and many more stories to come. She also writes nonfiction and has been published in various literary
