Author Bio:
3.5 Out Of 5 Stars Genre: Another-World, Heart, Reverse Harem, Supernatural, Teen-- Blue has had a really hard year since her father died in a car accident- he was her best friend, biggest supporter and the backbone to her family. Moving again due to her mom's job, Blue decides to try and embrace life again and makes a list of things she wants to try, including blue streaks in her hair, making new friends and driving a manual car. Well, on her first day of school, Blue makes at least one of those things come true in the form of 5 possible new friends. This friendship thing really seems to be working out when they invite Blue on a hiking trip. What none of them knew was that Texas actually has a portal to another world- and they hiked right into it. I am on such a reverse harem kick recently, gobbling up any and everyone I stumble across. When I saw that this was a "slow burn" RH I was super excited because I am not a fan of the overly sexual, insta-love that I attempt to avoid in books. Slow burn is always the way to go in my opinion, just saying. Overall this was a very different kind of book than what I thought, more a mystery adventure where at times they just occasionally have a romantic connection and some bubbling tension. I was slightly confused at her level of potential man-friends and keep guessing who would be picked. Blue was a very cute, upbeat character. She bristles when the guys fight over her and "treat her like a puppy" but I can kind of understand where it comes from. She seemed like a an over enthusiastic kid (or puppy), eager to please, hyper, oversharing everything. I kind of wanted to protect her too, which makes sense that all the guys were falling over themselves to be the one who got to be her protector. I was a little surprised by the turns this story took. A Girl Named Blue started lighthearted and fun (minus the repeated tangents about how sad Blue was over her dad's death and how proud of her choices he would be) and by the end of the book some surprising, sad and terrible events happened that completely changed the tone of the book. There was no cliffhanger here, technically this could be the end, but there were enough loose ends that the next book in the seriesAuthor Bio:
Cecilia Randell is the pseudonym for a lady author that has not quite worked up the courage to give you all her real name. She loves a good story, and often finds herself thinking “what if…”, so decided to put some of her ‘what ifs’ down in words for others to, hopefully, enjoy.
