He saved me… And then he blood-bonded me. Now I’m his.

My first meeting with a Chicago vampire went better than expected.

Up until that night, all I knew about vampires was limited to a few common facts: they drink blood, they get a mean sunburn and if you find yourself alone with one, you’redead.

Except he didn’t kill me.

Sexy, broody Warin clearly had his own reasons for sparing my life and tying me with his blood, but if he’d known how much trouble I’d attract, I bet he wouldn’t have bothered. When he blood-bonded me, secrets even I didn’t know about myself came to light.

Secrets that will pull us both deep into the eternal war between vampires and the witches determined to rid the world of their evil.

We have only one choice now: fight the forces hell-bent on breaking our bond…

Or die.

My Review:

4 Out Of 5 Stars

Genre: Mystery, Romance, Royal-Court, Supernatural, Suspense, Vampires, Werewolves, Witches--

Neat. I get exciting, anthropological knowledge of vampires before I die!

Liv thought that she was just going to enjoy her day off and read a steamy vampire romance when next thing she knows she was kidnapped and locked in a cell with a blood thirsty vampire. But instead of feeding off her, he saves her life. Maybe everything they say about vampires in the political propaganda is not true? When Liv runs into Warin, the vampire, they begin a friendship- one that puts Liv's life in danger.

...it seemed somehow inappropriate to answer, “So, what did you do on your day off?” with “Was kidnapped and stabbed by fanatics, but oh, I made a vampire friend!”

I have a severe case of cover love for this book- it drew me in before I even knew what the plot was, and once I discovered vampires were in the mix I was excited. I have not read a good vampire story in a while, especially one that was a romance. And sure, based on the cover, we all know that this book was going to be a romance. But the nice twist was that there was no instalove or over the top romantic connection, but instead Liv and Warin became the (most awkward!) of best friends. It was endearing as well as fun.

How the hell did you chase off a herd—pride? Flock?—of vampires? I was pretty sure lying down and playing dead—the most tempting option right then—wasn’t going to do me any favors, and I was fresh out of bear spray.

Liv kind of reminds me of an overeager puppy- she bumbles her way into tons of crazy situations without much (ok, any) thought to consequences, but her intentions are all good and with heart- and you can't help but to just love her and giggle at the current mess she is in. And seriously, the girl has NO FILTER. At all. She says the most outrageous comments and I love them, and that is not even mentioning the thought that play through her mind. The way she consistently baffles and ruffles polite, old world Warin with her opinions and actions was hands down the best part of the story. When a super old, world weary vampire is thrown off his game, that's a gold star day.

You’re a lifesaver.”

And then I punched him lightly in the shoulder.

He stared at me for two full seconds, and I stared back, not quite comprehending what I’d just done.

You just bro-punched a vampire in the shoulder is what you did, Liv.

I really enjoyed this read, it mixed humor and an engaging main character very well. I sat dow to just read a chapter or two and found myself a hundred pages in, laughing, without even being aware of how much time passed. I am not sure if everyone would find the humor in this story, but I most certainly did- it helped to break the tension and potential sorrow associated with a typical vampire angsty novel. Nope, no angst here, and I appreciated that. I enjoyed what Nora created and I look forward to more!

I am voluntarily reviewing an advance, complimentary copy of this book.
