Review: Reawakened: (Havenwood Falls) by Morgan Wylie

Book Blurb:

Welcome to Havenwood Falls, a small town in the majestic mountains of Colorado. A town where legacies began centuries ago, bloodlines run deep, and dark secrets abound. A town where nobody is what you think, where truths pose as lies, and where myths blend with reality. A place where everyone has a story. Including the high schoolers. This is only but one…

Like all young witch hunters in Havenwood Falls, seventeen-year-old Macy Blackstone has been spelled to control her killer instincts. When she’s reawakened too early, though, her world flips upside down.

Daughter to the Blackstone witch hunters’ matriarch, Macy should have known what was coming, but her mother hadn’t prepared her. Overwhelmed with the surge of energy from the new moon coupled with a solar eclipse, she’s unable to handle the new sensations, and she flees town. To her surprise, she discovers an entire family branch of witch hunters living nearby. Only, the more she gets to know them, the more she learns about their dark intentions for both the witches and the Blackstones of Havenwood Falls.

Gallad Augustine, witch and boyfriend extraordinaire, possesses powerful magic, but Macy took off too soon for him to help her. Now, as her soul mate, his connection to her heart may be the only way for anyone to reach her.

Macy has one moon cycle—28 days—to uncover the witch hunters’ plans and return home before the town’s wards wipe her memory permanently and she forgets everything about her family, her home, and her one true love. And if she can’t remember them, she won’t be able to save them.

My Review:

4 Out Of 5 Stars

Genre: Another-World, Romance, Suspense, Supernatural, Teen, Werewolves, Witches--

Macy has been putting off thinking about the future, instead trying to live her life as a carefree high school student. But Macy is not a carefree High School student, but instead a Witch Hunter who needs to make a choice between staying in her secret town full of supernatural citizens, including her boyfriend Gallad, who just so happens to be a witch, or refusing the protection tattoo and leaving town. When Macy starts to feel off, she realizes that she may not have the time she thought to make her choice.

I previously read the Supernatural Chronicles which was another novella series where each book was written by a different author about new characters but all in the same world and it was such a cool idea I knew I would look into the Havenwood books when I came across them. I am a fan of Morgan’s books so when I was offered the opportunity to read this Havenwood Fall’s teen book I jumped at the opportunity. Morgan is great at creating engaging realistic action and danger in her stories, be it novella or novel length. This was another story that was full of danger, action, tension, magic as well was love. The story had so many cool ideas used that I really hope for more, be it another follow-up novella or a spin-off series dealing with the Witch Hunters and how they came to be at such odds with one another. This was a really cool concept, almost a paranormal Romeo and Juliet with the love between a witch hunter and witch at stake.

As per the norm for me, I wanted more. I would love a full length novel about Macy and the Witch Hunters, her family history, her boyfriend Gallad and their history, ummm...pretty much everything in the book I found interesting and I would love to know more. But overall this was a good, unique story.

This is my first Havenwood book, but I plan to get my hands on all the novellas, be it the teen or adult book because I love the idea behind the town and I can’t wait to learn more. I highly enjoy how each author can put their own spin and flavor on the same basic concept to create unique reads.

I received this title for reviewing purposes.
