Blog Tour & Giveaway: Frost (Midnight Ice #1) by Kaitlyn Davis

Book Blurb:

Even the hottest love can turn a girl cold-blooded…

Life's tough for a vampire thief on the run—just ask Pandora Scott, she knows. Four years ago she ran away from home after everyone she loved betrayed her. But now her annoyingly grown up (and handsome) ex boyfriend is stalking her, begging her to return. A mysterious vamp with a particularly dangerous (and sexy) stare keeps popping unexpectedly into her life. The extremely powerful head vampire of New York is hunting her down because she may or may not have broken into his highly-secure, highly-secretive personal vault. And the fate she's been trying to outrun? Well, it's about to catch up. Because even a super-speedy vamp with the ability to disappear can't escape her own destiny.

A brand new spinoff to the Midnight Fire series! Fans will enjoy special appearances from Kira, Luke and Tristan while falling in love with the new characters and new adventure of Midnight Ice.

*Please note, you do not need to read the books of Midnight Fire to enjoy Frost (Midnight Ice Book 1). They are two standalone series with character crossover.

My Review:

3.5 Out Of 5 Stars

Genre: Supernatural, Suspense, Teen, Vampires--

Four years ago Pandora's life was completely destroyed when she became a vampire, an event she can't even remember. Ever since, she has been on the run from one city to another, making a name for herself as a master thief. But in reality, she has been freeing the slaves of the vampire leaders, those that has been hidden away and abused. Everything seems just as she wants it to be until her 20th birthday. An unwanted surprises causes her to doubt everything and potentially put her life on the line.

I found out after I was half way through the story that this is actually the first in a spin off series. I can honestly say that the book was comprehensive enough that I did not feel like I was missing anything important when it came to world building. I thought Pandora was a little vapid and cavalier when I first started the book, but as the story progressed, she became so much more developed and likeable. Mu original conception of her was in actuality a front for a lonely girl trying to help those in need.

I thought the world was really interesting and complex, mixed with Vampires (which were different from any vamps I read about before) mixed with all these other complicated supernatural races (and that’s not even talking about all the types of titans there are), different from all the paranormal books I have read before.

I think one of my biggest hang-ups with the story was that I had so many unanswered questions, which I am sure will be answered in another book if I am patient, but we all know I have zero patience. The book just kept building on my curiosity and then the ending was a big cliff hanger and I was a little frustrated when I was finished. If I want to find out pretty much anything, I need the next book in the series. Pandora hated showing any kind of weakness so she refused to ask any questions or think of the past she had blocked, which I was honestly dying to know about. Why did Jax act that way? What really happened that night? Where did Sam come from? How long has she known him? Does this world have soul mates? Anyway, in case you can’t tell, I have questions.

There is a kinda sorta love triangle going on in the book. There is the ex-best friend Jax who shows up in her life after 4 years of nothing, who at one time use to be the love of her life. And then there is Sam, a mysterious Vampire who she is drawn to and shares her rare gifts. Well, I really don’t know who I like better because Jax seems great, minus the past and some other unmentionable stuff, but Sam is so mysterious that I have no idea what is his dealio. Do you go for what you know or the new uncharted? Alas, there is no answer, but based on how the book ends Pandora may have her options removed.

Overall this was an interesting book that left me with more questions than what I started with, as well as a strong need to read Kira’s books as well as the next in this series. I easily would recommend this to anybody who wants a new paranormal read full of action and developed characters.

I received this title in return for my honest review.
