One woman on the run. Four dangerously sexy bodyguards. And a war brewing that will change the shifter world forever…
I’m living on borrowed time, fighting for survival against a deadly new virus that has no cure and a cult doing its best to brainwash me. But when a mysterious note shows up on my windowsill one night, its chilling message--Run, Wren--launches me out of the frying pan and into the fire.
Within hours, everything I thought I knew about my life, my family, and my origins is obliterated, and I'm racking up enemies at an alarming rate. Between the cult I've just escaped, a violent shifter faction out for my blood, and an ancient evil who eats "chosen ones" like me for breakfast, my last hope is to join forces with four dangerous-looking men who claim they were sent to guard my life.
Luke, a werewolf with a rap sheet. Creedence, a lynx shifter who never met a mark he couldn’t con. Kite, a bear kin with a mean right hook and heart of gold. And Dust, my childhood best friend and dude voted least likely to be a secret shape-shifting griffin.
But are these men really what they seem?
Or are my alpha guardians hiding a secret agenda of their own?
I’m not sure, but one thing is for certain—choosing the right allies will mean the difference between life and death. For me, and everyone I love.
UNLEASHED is book one in the Dark Moon Shifter’s series. It is a true reverse harem featuring one woman and her four mates.

My Review:
4 Out Of 5 Stars
Genre: Mystery, Reverse Harem, Supernatural, Survival, Suspense, Werewolves, Urban Fantasy--
Wren wants nothing more than to feel good and have a little more time, but she is aware that she is dying. Since the world started turning on itself, new diseases are taking over and Wren suffers from one- the same that killed her older sister. Aware that her time is about to run out, she is surprised when her parents tell her that they have a new treatment option, one that could possible cure her. Even more surprising, a presence from her past shows up, telling her a story she has a hard time believing- one that makes her whole life a lie. And then she was kidnapped.
Yay for all the Reverse Harem titles that have been popping up on my radar recently! They are my guilty pleasure and I think any romance fan should give them a whirl at least once, because what is not to love about one woman and a group of attractive men fawning over her? Yeah, I am a fan. When I first saw Unleashed, I was in love with the cover- it is so gorgeous and eye catching- I had to pick up a copy. It did not hurt that the synopsis was about shifters, which is hands down one of my favorite topics to read about.
I was pleasantly surprised that this book was all that the synopsis described and more. There was so much action and world building I was sucked into the pages effortlessly and did not come up until the ending. This was a very easy book to read with lots of conflict to keep the plot moving. Right from the first chapter, Wren experienced one dangerous situation to the next, with so many twists I was uncertain where the story would go next. I would easily call this an Urban Fantasy with a romantic flair, based on the world building. The book is set in an unknown future where the world has started falling apart, natural disasters and diseases run rampant, causing unrest and new "religions" to develop.
Wren was the narrator of the story, completely unaware of what was real in her world, Church, family or self. She was a pretty fierce yet forgiving character, the perfect social worker she started the book out as- you know, until she became the savior she is meant to be. The one thing I found surprising was how accepting she was of the hard truths these practically strangers fed her- with only mild reservations, she believed in all the crazy they were selling, which went against everything she had spent the last 20 years believing. Her "pack" of guys were great and very diverse in personality- we have Dust the childhood friend turned stoic leader, Kite the large yet cuddly friend who wanted to cherish her, Credence the playful yet insightful con artist and Luke the criminal on the run who wants nothing to do with the situation. I loved watching the interaction between Wren and the guys, but especially between the guys in general. I hope to see more of their points of view in the future.
Unleashed is just the beginning of the adventure in this world, really just a taste of a huge battle with way more character development, danger and steamy moments to come. I for one really loved this completely different reverse harem story and I will 100% pick up the next book.
I am reviewing a complementary copy of this title.
