Book Blurb:
Dating the Prince by Alina Snow
Small-town girl, Katie O’Connor has always dreamed of seeing her name in lights. Check the box for fame, a movie deal, the perfect leading role that comes with a gorgeous leading man! Katie moved to Hollywood, elbows her way into auditions, lives on a shoestring budget—whatever is required to land a deal, she throws her heart into… until she’s involved in a royal kidnapping.
As the future king, Prince Alexander refuses to rule from an ivory tower. Duty-bound, he intends to relate to his future subjects, regardless of their walk of life. Before his coronation, he needs a foolproof plan to outrun his security team and go temporarily AWOL. While visiting L.A., all it takes is a sound stage collision and Alex is blindsided by a headstrong woman who is simply irresistible. So much so, he calls in a favor in order to secure her help … as his pretend girlfriend.
Their worlds are oceans apart, but their immediate attraction is impossible to put aside, especially their nonstop banter. Miffed at being wrangled into a situation that might blow up in her face, Katie comes up with her own plan. If The Prince is serious about walking the walk of the common folk, she’s only too happy to oblige as his pretend girlfriend. Through an ice storm, a road trip, kitchen duty, and a Texas pig race, Alex captures the hearts of the locals as well as Ms. O’Connor’s.
What starts out as a deal Katie can’t refuse becomes the acting role of a lifetime… letting Prince Alexander go without a fight.
A delightfully funny retelling of The Prince and The Pauper that romance readers of all ages will enjoy. On a two-week 1,500-mile road trip, Katie and Alex discover the end of the road might just be the beginning of their ‘Happy Ever After’ together.
My Review:
4 Out Of 5 Stars
Genre: Romance, Royal-Court--
Katie is a struggling actress in Hollywood, with tons of gumption and perseverance, working days as a model on a game show and night as a waitress in an upscale resturaunt, sneaking her way into auditions whenever she can. When she accidentally bumps into a guy in the studio hallway while filming the game show, her lack of contacts make her fail to recognize him as the Prince of England, next in line for the throne. But Alex, the prince, has come up with a plan to see the charming American again as well as please his Grandmother the Queen by performing his duties in America...just in his own way.
Dating the Prince was the perfect mix of fun and romance, a book that was easy to get lost into as the drama of Katie and Alex's relationship potential was laid bare. From the first accidental encounter between the two, to the hope filled last chapter, this was a the perfect Royal Family wish fulfillment read- what regular girl doesn't dream of being swept off her feet by a prince? Reading this story right after watching the televised fairytale wedding with the actual British Royal Family and a certain American Actress over the weekend, made this book more fun and perfectly timed! I am a sucker for a commoner- Royalty romance plot line and Alina delivered, with her own flair and style making this a unique read.
I am such a sucker for a romance told from both partner's points of view and Dating The Prince delivered. We have alternating chapters told from Katie and Alex's views, watching them battle their attraction and figure out their feelings. I loved Katie right from the get go, mainly due to her spunk, ingenuity and flaws. She was an average girl that knew what she wanted from her life and went for it. And when her life plan was thrown on it's head, she rolled with the changes without a freakout and modified her plan. Katie was a great character who experienced a lot of growth too, learning to be part of a team and to make sacrifices for those she loves. Speaking of character growth, Alex went though a lot in my opinion as well. When the story started, I was pretty ambivalent towards him, he was more an idea of what a Royal Prince should be instead of an actual character to root for. Through the course of the misadventures in the book, Alex became more fleshed out and developed, not just as a person but as a love interest and a King. I ended up rooting for their relationship just as much as them individually.
Overall I found this to be a very cute, fun and fast read. If you are looking for a perfect light-hearted happily ever after read, than this is it! There was love, heart, humor and mischief sprinkled through the pages and I for one enjoyed the ride.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance, complimentary copy of this book.
