Cover Reveal: Touching Embers (Touch #3) by Airicka Phoenix

I have the pleasure of revealing the cover and the book blurb today for the newest book in the Touch Series by one of my favorite authors Airicka Phoenix!

This will be #3 in the series, but the fourth book set in this incredibly developed world. If you like strong female characters with snark in her veins, hot and charming protectors, non-stop action, supernatural alternate worlds and the creatures that reside there, unethical science experiments, as well as the most amazing, painfully bittersweet romance, then this series is for you.

Heck, I am pretty sure this series is for everyone. I was lucky enough to stumble across the first book in the series last year and could not have been more in love with what I read. Since then I have read everything by this author that I can get my hands on, but this series is still my favorite.

Book Blurb:

Life from fire.

Hope from ashes.

I thought I could escape him. I thought I was safe.

I should have known better.

For the first time in my life, I am alone to face my fate. The world I had once known is gone and I am responsible. I am the bringer of death. Everything I touch becomes ashes and I can’t stop. He won’t let me.

Touch Chaos. Touch Destruction. Touch Embers!

Release Date: Winter 2015

Book Blurb: Touching Smoke

I assumed I was human.

I assumed wrong.

I dream of death and warm blood on my hands. I dream of the day I burn the world to the ground. I dream of the day I will finally die.

Running is something my mother taught me to do very well. I never knew why until the night I cause an earthquake and meet Isaiah. My shadow. My protector. My other half. I need him. I need his blood. He is the only one who can keep me hidden from the man who created me. The man who created the monster.

The world is depending on me not to fall in love. But what happens when the temptation becomes too great and falling is my only option? Can I live knowing I will destroy the world because his touch is the only thing keeping me alive?

And how can I trust someone as lost as I am?

Touch Passion. Touch Power. Touch Smoke!

My Review:

4 Out Of 5 Stars

Genre:Supernatural, Romance, Urban Fantasy--

16 year old Fallon has had an interesting upbringing, always on the road with her mother, moving from place to place, never staying long enough to know anyone. Fallon makes the best of her life, minus the crazy dreams of a strange girl and her never ending hunger. There is a man who always shows up when they move, yet Fallon does not know why. While trying to settle in at a new school, she becomes under attack. Her entire world gets turned on its head, but can she survive?

I really enjoyed this book. When I read the synopsis, I thought the book sounded mysterious and intriguing, but nothing at all like what I read. It was even better than what I was expecting. This is a suspenseful paranormal action book, with just a hint of romance (to my frustration) yet it was nothing like any other book I have read. There were so many twist and turns and surprises that I was continually kept on my toes. The story was non-stop action, the characters never getting a break from the challenges they face. The book is about "supernaturals", but that is a loose term for the people in the story, more like the X-men but not.

Fallon was so strong. She had no idea what was going on, with so many more questions than answers given to her. She faces everything that was thrown at her, and there were so many horrible things, yet she only broke down like once. If it had been me, I would have been a hot mess. "Wild dreams and false hopes, that was me". I love her attitude and how she just goes along with the situation, enough to even mock herself. Her mother prepared her well for survival.

Isaiah is just dreamy. He is everything a man should be, wrapped up in a leather jacket riding a motorcycle. He really is her knight in shining armor. I love the connection the two have, and I can practically feel the tension between them, and wow it is hot! I just want them to say screw the world, lets be together. But alas, they are better people then I am. I absolutely love both characters, everything about them appeals to me, and I want them to be happy. The uncertainty that Fallon feels eats away at me just like it does her. I want the answers about them, desperately.

The one issue I had with the book was the fact she rode Isaiah's back like a monkey a few times in the book. It made me cringe a little, because there is another book that I will not name that the same mode of transportation occurs. I was not a fan of that book, so I was a little sketchy about where this story would take us. But I can overlook this piggy back ride because it helped to facilitate the plot and it explained about the couples relationship and skills. I just did not like how helpless it made Fallon seem. I want to thank the author and Goodreads for the opportunity to read this really engaging book. I can't wait to get my hands on more in the series and follow what happens to Fallon and Isaiah. I really want them to be together, but I guess I just have to wait and see.

Book Blurb: Touching Fire

Finding her past was supposed to end the nightmare.

Only it was just the beginning.

Entrusting the fate of the world, not to mention her and Isaiah’s life to a father she’s never met is a big leap of faith on Fallon’s part. But it’s a necessary risk. Ashton is the key to protecting Isaiah and keeping her out of Garrison’s clutches. He is also the only one who can tell her what she is, except what she learns is that she is from a world that is far more dangerous than anyone could possibly imagine.

As her powers grow out of control, Fallon must pick between her mortality and a legacy that does not include Isaiah. She must summon the courage to face a destiny that will test the boundaries of everything she has ever known. But most of all, she must protect Isaiah from the monster within herself and trust the man whose toxic blood runs through her veins.

Danger builds as power clashes between two evils, both seeking her to tip the scales to eternal darkness and suffering.

Can humanity rise to face an ancient calling to which Fallon is powerless to stop?

Can she protect those she cares about, or will their blood forever stain her hands?

Touch Vengeance. Touch Malice. Touch Fire.

My Review:

5 Out Of 5 Stars

Book 2 picks up one month after Fallon and Isaiah escaped Garrison’s clutches. Isaiah has convinced Fallon to contact her father, Ashton, to receive help. They have been on the move constantly, just one step ahead of Garrison’s men. When Fallon meets her father, she has no idea who he really is, or for that matter what she really is.

Oh my God I love this series. I can’t get enough of these characters, especially Fallon. The world building is incredibly. I can see the other worlds she creates and it is amazing. The author is able to create a mental image in my head of creatures I could never have imagined. There are flaming horses, hybrid humans, mutant like things, new realms…I was taken on a non-stop adventure in a place I have never been before. And the reveal about what Fallon is caught me completely off guard. Talk about a completely unique story.**The book may be classified as paranormal romance, but I would certainly classify it as action. Fallon never gets a chance to stop. She is dragged through one epic battle to the next, facing scary creatures we don’t even have a name for. The book is also Hot! With a capital H. The tension and feelings between Fallon and Isaiah were enough to burn the pages up, and there was not even any sex. I was so wrapped up in the two of them, right along with them being wrapped up in each other.

I love Fallon. She has the quirkiest sense of humor and thinks incredibly inappropriate things at awful times I can’t help but to laugh. Out loud in public, you know where people think you are crazy. I liked her growing up in this book, instead of needing her mom or Isaiah to save her, she wants to protect others and take charge of her life. She is a great female character that I completely support.

My favorite Fallon quotes that made me giggle in the middle of a serious situation: "Life really was one big box of freaking mystery chocolates and I was quickly becoming diabetic." "Fantastic. It couldn't, for once, be something small. Where were all the evil kittens of death? Why did it always have to be something menacing and huge?" "I was an only child for seventeen years and I never- to my knowledge- predicted a slow and painful death on anyone. Okay there was that one time at McDonalds, but that was another matter entirely."

Isaiah is completely dreamy. What’s not to love about an incredibly attractive man, who is completely devoted to her, and that she physically needs to live? They have such a strong bond, even without the blood sharing thing. I really want them to say “screw you world, we are going to be together” but I really doubt that will happen. Fallon and Isaiah together are so bittersweet because there is just no way for it to work and it makes my heart hurt. **The secondary characters were all so different and fairy mysterious. Ashton her father has unspeakable power yet would give it up for Falon. I really like Archer and his snark. I feel like there is more to him and his involvement here than what anyone is revealing, and it has to do with Fallon. The one character that ended up betraying Fallon I completely saw coming, it was not a shock for me when it happened, just where she ended up was a twist.

I have loved both books in this series, becoming completely engrossed in the books where my world drops away. There are so many questions that I have from the ending that I am desperate to get my hands on the next book.

Book Blurb: Touching Eternity (Prequel)

Before Fallon was created to destroy. Before love became the ultimate weapon of destruction. There was Amalie and the horror that started a revolution that tore the fabric of humanity, of everything standing in the balance between power, hope and survival.

Amalie has one wish, one gnawing desire — she wants to die.

She wants to leave this world behind with its pain and darkness. She wants to finally breathe. But Amalie is a prisoner, a disease, not fit for life. She is unwanted, unnatural. She is defective, something useless and broken. Her own mother hadn’t wanted her. Her father hated her. The world shunned her and the only person she had ever loved, truly and with all her heart and soul, couldn’t stand the sight of her, couldn’t stand the thought of ever being with her. She repulsed him. Her insanity disgusted him. He’d forgotten her. He’d left her behind, deserted and abandoned her to a madman hell bent on crushing her, stealing her soul and shattering her will.

But what if she’s finally given hope? A reason to live? Can Amalie finally accept the hand offering so much for so little in return? Can she love again when she has nothing left to give?

Can she finally be free?
