Life or death?
It all seems to be the same for Grace…
Some of us have been there before -- falling for the hot, popular jock who just so happens to be dating the hot, popular girl in school.
Your snarky-but-always-right bestie insists you make a move, but you’re not so much into putting yourself out there.
Then it happens, and suddenly you find yourself eating a cat on your neighbor’s porch.
No? Never happened to you?
Well, Grace Watkins can’t say the same. Her hunger is growing with each day that passes and her urges are getting harder to control.
No one can explain why her body is changing, except one man.

My Review:
3 Out Of 5 Stars
Genre: Scary, Suspense, Teen--
17 year old Grace is hungry all of the time, but her mother who is a doctor brushes it off as a regular hormonal issue all teenagers encounter. Grace tries to do regular teen things, like hang out with her best friend, avoid her nemesis who happens to date Grace's crush Tristan, and day dream over Tristan. But the hunger becomes worse, causing Grace to pass out and feel sick. But what is worse, is the things that the hunger causes her to do. The unspeakable things...
I love myself some zombie movies, tv shows, books, actually pretty much anything zombie related so I was intrigued to get my hands on this book. The synopsis hinted at hunger so I assumed zombie and it is listed as horror and I do also love myself some scary stories to keep me freaked out while reading. Well, maybe my expectations were too high because I was a little let down by the book. I found the writing to be a off for my taste for the first 3/4th of the book. I think because it was more of a "tell me" than a "show me" writing style. For example, she would say that some one was pretty or hot but I never really got to see what they looked like, more I just had to take her word for it. The descriptions did increase substantially as the horrific events occurred, which was when my interest was fully peaked.
I really appreciated how there was an actual reason as for why Grace was the way she was. In a world filled with zombies and no explanation given, I loved the fact the author explained the what and the why. Despite my lack of engagement for most of the book, the parts that drew me in were interesting, gory, horrifying and crazy intense and it was enough to hook me. I look forward to the next book in the series where I hope more answers are divulged. I will admit that I now think of Costa Rica in a new light.
As a side note, I have my speculation on Tristan. He at times seemed to have control over his evil girlfriend, so I was expecting some sort of supernatural reveal that did not happen. Add in the fact that he was perfectly fine with everything Grace threw at him also causes me to question things. I mean really, he barley knows her and she confides in him, he eats people due to her, and he takes part in terrible deeds for her and never bats an eye. That takes a special kind of person or someone hiding something himself (which is where I put my money). If my husband admitted these things to me, we would have to have a serious talk and make some boundaries, to say the least and this is a person I have known for years.
Overall, I was a little let down by the book, but it grabbed my attention enough to make me want more. I will pick up the next book to see what will happen next.
I received this title in return for my honest review.
